Privacy Policy

1Overview

NRC ReadCoach is built by NRC Reading as a free offline companion for reading tutors, interventionists and coaches — a running record calculator, a literacy skills glossary, a student progress tracker, a session notepad, and a decodable word lister. This policy explains, in plain terms, what happens to your information when you use it.

2Information we collect

NRC ReadCoach does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, usage data, device identifiers, or analytics. We do not use cookies, trackers, advertising IDs, or third-party SDKs of any kind.

Anything you enter — student names or initials, reading levels, running record results, or session notes — is saved only in local storage on your own device. It is never transmitted to NRC Reading or to any third party, and we have no access to it.

3Student information

Because the app is intended for use by educators and coaches, it may involve entering information about students. We want to be direct about this: all such information stays local to the device it was entered on. There is no cloud sync, no account, and no mechanism by which student data could be transmitted off the device by this app. Educators remain responsible for the physical security of their own device, the same as they would for a paper gradebook or binder.

4Permissions

NRC ReadCoach does not request any device permissions — no camera, location, contacts, storage, microphone, or notifications access beyond what your device's OS provides by default for local, on-device features.

5Internet & offline behaviour

The app is designed to work fully offline. It does not require, and does not use, an internet connection to function. The running record calculator, glossary, tracker, notepad and word lister all run entirely on your device.

6Third parties

Because NRC ReadCoach sends no data anywhere, there is no data to share with advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third party. We do not sell, rent, or trade any information, for the simple reason that we never receive any.

7Children's privacy

NRC ReadCoach does not knowingly collect information from children, or from anyone, because it does not collect information at all — everything entered stays local to the educator's own device. The app itself is intended for use by educators and coaches, not directly by children.

8Data deletion

Since all data stays on your device, you can remove it at any time by clearing the app's storage in your device settings or by uninstalling the app — no request to us is needed.

9Changes to this policy

If NRC ReadCoach's data practices ever change — for example, if a future version adds an optional online feature — we will update this policy and the in-app description before that version is released, and this page will reflect the change with a new effective date.
